About Jessie
My name is Jessie Egedal, and I work as an emotion-focused psychotherapist in Espergærde and online.
I have worked with people since 2011 and, over more than 16 years, have met people during some of the periods in life when the things we usually rely on no longer feel sufficient. When life hurts, when something changes, or when you can no longer cope in the way you normally do.
I don’t believe you need to have everything figured out or know exactly what you need before coming to therapy. You are welcome to bring whatever is difficult to understand, whatever feels like too much, or something you may have been carrying on your own for a long time.
For me, therapy is about meeting another person with both professional expertise and humanity. I’m curious about what lies behind your reactions and about what matters to you – even when it may be difficult to put into words.
I know that life can change
My professional perspective has been shaped by more than education and experience. I also bring a life I have lived myself.
I have been through six years of fertility treatment, pregnancy loss, and the emotional strain that comes with wanting a child and finding that it remains just out of reach. I have also experienced other forms of loss and major changes in my own life.
Of course, my experiences are not the same as yours. But they have taught me something about how many emotions can be at play when life doesn’t turn out the way you had imagined. About hope and disappointment. About grief, helplessness, and anger. And about how feelings that seem to contradict each other can exist at the same time.
These are experiences I bring with me into my work – without allowing them to get in the way of your story.
My professional background
I am a trained emotion-focused psychotherapist from the EFT Institute and work from an emotion-focused psychotherapy approach.
I am also a Mastercoach trained by Sofia Manning, an ICF-certified coach, and trained in fertility and grief counselling as well as stress coaching.
Throughout my years as a professional, I have worked with people experiencing, among other things, crises, grief, infertility, stress, and major life changes.
The person you will meet in therapy
When you come to see me, you don’t need to have a ready-made explanation for what is going on. We start with what you bring.
I am direct, warm, and curious, and I’m not afraid of the feelings that can be difficult to sit with. I listen both to what you tell me and to what may be harder to notice or put into words.
You don’t have to perform in therapy. You don’t need to have the right words either.
You are welcome to come as you are, with whatever is taking up space – even when it feels contradictory, messy, or difficult to understand.

As your therapist
I am a member of the Danish Psychotherapists’ Association and work under confidentiality in accordance with the association’s ethical guidelines.
I also receive regular supervision and personal therapy, and I continuously participate in courses to maintain a high professional standard.
